Crock Pot BBQ Ribs

It has been hotter than Hades this week and especially in my poorly ventilated apt so I pulled out the crock pot to make some ribs.

Ingredients:
1 rack of ribs, trimmed of excess fat
Dry rub
BBQ sauce (if you want it)

Dry rub ingredients (adapted from Bobby Flay):
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon granulated garlic
1 tablespoon granulated onion
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 tablespoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon black pepper
Couple dashes of cinnamon and/or whatever else is sitting in your pantry that would be fun

Directions:
Pat rack of ribs dry and massage dry rub. I used about half of the dry rub this made and saved the rest for the next rack. Cut ribs into 3 equal parts, or whatever works for you to get them to fit standing up in the crock pot. You want these guys to stand up, but of course by the time I got home mine had fallen into the fat that puddles in the bottom. I read online someone used potatoes in between to keep their ribs standing and had baked potatoes when they were done.
Edit: Next time I did this, I used the aluminum foil I had used to cover the pan while they were marinating to make balls to help them stand up and it actually worked.

Anyway, put on low for about 8 hours. Go to work. When I came home, I laid the ribs out on a roasting pan and let the broil setting heat up. I like mine with charred BBQ sauce so I used a pastry brush to brush BBQ sauce on half of them. Every 4 minutes remove the pan from the oven and brush on some more sauce for a total of 12 minutes of broiling.

Let those bad boys cool down and serve.

Notes:
I loved the charred BBQ sauce and how sticky and sweet it is. John said he preferred the ones with just the dry rub. Either way, they were fall off the bone delicious and tender.
